The Civic Engagement and Youth-Led Peacebuilding through Fisheries Governance initiative is planned by IFES Institute in partnership with PUNSAA, Y-Peer Network, and the Puntland Electoral Commission (PEC). The partnership brings together civil society, youth networks, and electoral institutions to support civic engagement, youth participation, and peacebuilding.
The initiative builds on IFES’s distinctive approach of using fisheries governance as an entry point for dialogue, trust-building, and social cohesion. It aims to strengthen meaningful youth participation in community governance and peacebuilding while promoting inclusive approaches to fisheries management.
The project reflects IFES’s wider commitment to civic engagement, youth empowerment, inclusive governance, conflict resolution, and “Fisheries as a Tool for Peace.” The project portfolio identifies it as a planned 2026 initiative.
